Jim Duke came to work with us and had already acquired an existing plan for his future home, so we got right to it.
His home was built with a brick exterior. The front and back porch floors were laid with blue stone, a natural stone that has a grayish blue tone to it. The stone pieces came in varying sizes, so they fit together like a puzzle piece, giving the finished product a mosaic feel and look.
The Duke’s home was also fitted with an efficient and extensive air conditioning system that was laid and planned into the foundation to help maintain a lower energy cost in the future.
The entrance and sidewalk to the home was laid with pavers, and the outdoor accents and porches were laid with Architectural brick, a more elevated style of brick that has rounded corners. This brick was also used to frame the stainless steel exterior kitchen on the back porch which includes a sink, grill, and mini fridge.
We installed closet built-ins to maximize clothing storage and making all clothing items accessible. Custom cabinets were also designed for his kitchen and living room, for a continued, cohesive design throughout the home.
A unique element that you don’t see often is a swivel pantry door that opens either way, much like a kitchen door in a restaurant. Unique designs like that make us love building custom homes and seeing what ideas different people bring to the table.
